Cuemái explores culture through material. It transforms the residues left behind by one of Mexico’s most emblematic spirits: tequila.
As global demand for tequila continues to soar, with over 583 million liters produced and more than 408 million liters exported last year alone, the environmental cost of its production has escalated. Traditional waste management methods, including littering, composting, and chemical disposal, fail to maximize resource recovery or minimize ecological impact. Cuemái steps into this gap, addressing a critical environmental issue while introducing a new era of sustainable materials.
The goal is to challenge industries to see waste as opportunity. This project is not only about creating textiles; it’s about creating a future where sustainability drives both innovation and tradition.
Beyond environmental stewardship, Cuemái acts as a catalyst for social innovation. Empowering rural communities, fostering economic resilience while protecting ecosystems critical for biodiversity and soil conservation.
